Help Nurturing Roots go to Cuba

Hello to friends of Cuba in Seattle and surrounding areas

On October 6th, 2019, a Seattle-based organization, Nurturing Roots, in partnership with IFCO/Pastors for Peace, is sending a delegation of black young people and adults to Cuba to learn about the revolution and sustainable agriculture practices. They will spend nine days in Havana and Pinar del Rio province.

This visit is being led by two of the people who participated in the New Hope Baptist Church delegation to Cuba in 2017. Since most of the participants are young they have very little money. So they are seeking financial support via grants, and donations from individuals and groups in our community.

They write:
"This trip will help strengthen our community organizing, and growing techniques, to improve our current conditions. Broadening our realities as a community is important, many underserved individuals never have the opportunity to realize their full potential. We believe in learning from our past to improve our present. Many of our participants will be traveling abroad for the 1st time, we appreciate your time, consideration and possible gifts of support."

Nurturing Roots Farm is located on Beacon Hill in south Seattle. Our efforts are focused on educating youth & community members on health and food consciousness, promoting awareness about social justice issues that plague our communities, and providing resources to support a healthier environment. Nurturing Roots is committed to healing our community members & environments for our youth and families to live and thrive, incorporating organic techniques and culture sharing.
